TripTik082 Expedition Highlights
Introduction
Visit the headquarters of the Arek’Jaalan research effort and learn about the dozens of projects stored within.
Locations
Founded by Dr. Hilen Tukoss after fleeing the Caldari State and named after the freighter he used to do it, Arek’Jaalan was created as a cross-sectional research effort and information clearinghouse dedicated to learning more about the Sleepers. Specifically, Tukoss intended for this research to be educational in nature, and opposed efforts to weaponize Sleeper technology. Site One was constructed in Eram thanks to extensive capsuleer donations, including supercomputers and tend of millions of kilograms of synthetic coffee. This gave the project the financial independence to pursue its goals free of other benefactors such as Eifyr and Co., and a massive facility from which to operate.
Unfortunately, Tukoss would soon go missing in YC113 in the depths of Anoikis. He resurfaced 3 years later in YC116 via transmissions from Anoikis asking capsuleers to deliver Jovian biomass to Site One. With the emergence of the Drifters, it turned out that Tukoss had been captured by them and used to hijack Arek’Jaalan for their own ends, and Site One was compromised. Tukoss managed to escape the Drifters aboard a stolen Sleeper vessel, but never made it back to Site One.
Site One itself still stands in Eram, its facilities operational and activity visible throughout. In addition to the central structure and a locked acceleration gate, there are over a dozen archive facilities arranged in rows to the side of the site, each dedicated to a different project under the Arek’Jaalan umbrella. Approaching each of these structures will get its project brief transmitted directly to your cargo. There are 19 such Research Abstracts available, covering 17 different projects.
