1420:Caldari Union Day YC123 Monuments

TripTik068 Expedition Highlights

Finished just in time for the Caldari State Workers Union Day of YC123, these two monuments are some of the most recent investments by the Caldari State in preserving their history.

Introduction

The Caldari State places high importance on the preservation of their history, especially where the Gallente Federation is concerned. To that end, the Chief Executive Panel poured discretionary funding into the construction of these two state-of-the-art structures. Completed in time for Union Day, which celebrates the strength of the State and its workers, these sites commemorate the establishment of one of the first Caldari colonies and the horrific loss of life resulting from the anti-Gallente riots following the State assault on Caldari Prime.

Locations

  • New Caldari Beacon Name: Landfall Kutuoto Miru Orbital Center

A center for the practice and teaching of the Caldari Way, this orbital facility is managed by the Caldari Chief Executive Panel and hosts broadcasting facilities operated by all 8 Caldari megacorporations.

The expansive, highly advanced facility is linked to the planetside Landfall Shrine on New Caldari Prime, which is a vast complex of temples, parks, and gardens built on the landing site of the first Caldari colony ship to reach the planet over 3 centuries ago. The shrine is surrounded by Landfall City and has a necropolis containing the tombs of thousands of State heroes. Most Caldari make a pilgrimage to the site at least once in their lifetimes, even if they don't actively follow the Caldari Way.

At its core, the Caldari Way is the philosophy of Kutuoto Miru- roughly translating as "mind tool." Starting as an ancient philosophy emphasizing mental readiness, Kutuoto Miru has gradually expanded into a wide-ranging set of disciplines covering training in focus, mental fortitude, health, equanimity, and even martial arts.

Due to its extreme importance to Caldari history and philosophy, this orbital station is lavishly funded by every Caldari megacorporation (even featuring a stunning holographic hypercube), and the Landfall Shrine on the planet below is the only such site in the Caldari State to receive an endowment from the nation as a whole.

  • Urlen Beacon Name: Urlen II Provist Riots Memorial

In the wake of the Caldari invasion of Luminaire and attack on Caldari Prime, anti-Gallente riots broke out across the State. The riots in Urlen II's underground industrial colonies were the bloodiest, with 1000 Caldari citizens losing their lives, most of whom were ethnically Gallente.

Later investigations revealed that the riots were instigated by agents of Tibus Heth's since-deposed Provist government and their terrorist allies. As they sought to undo the damage done by Tibus Heth and reassert their own authority over the State, the Caldari megacorporations made the investigations' results public and constructed this memorial to those who lost their lives in the riots.
