1420:Thera

TripTik140 Expedition Highlights

Introduction

Thera is the largest shattered wormhole system and a cornerstone of Sisters of EVE research. This expedition highlights every major beacon site, surviving station and provides narrative and historical context.

Locations

Thera is unlike any other wormhole system vast, shattered, and filled with the skeletal remains of a once ambitious Sisters of EVE project. Discovered in YC112 by Zakari Kovalis and the Sisters of EVE, it became the beating heart of SOE deep space research a cradle for experiments in gravitation, paleocybernetics, and fullerenic materials.

The detonation known as Caroline’s Star tore the system apart, scattering its stations and leaving behind ruptured labs, ruined outposts, and unstable pockets of space time.

Today, Thera has become a crossroads for explorers and wanderers. It is also the headquarters of Signal Cartel, whose rescue infrastructure, mapping initiative, and credo of neutrality make the shattered system a haven amid Anoikis’s chaos.

For explorers, Thera offers a mix of breathtaking landmarks, storyline rich wreckage, and dangerous living space.

This expedition guides the traveler through these relics, drawing on findings from the Eye of the Needle chronicle and Zakari Kovalis’s original reports documents that helped reveal Thera’s existence.

Waypoint 1

Thera - Epicenter:

A turbulent fusion of Talocan and Sleeper structures shattered enclaves, preservation conduits, and thermoelectric arrays fill this site. At its center drifts the ruined Talocan Outpost Hub, encircled by graceful yet silent Talocan destroyer wrecks. The entire scene feels like a catastrophe frozen in time, offering one of the clearest examples of Talocan Sleeper overlap found within the Shattered systems.

Waypoint 2

Thera III - Testing Facilities:

A collapsed research site once dedicated to studying the nearby Talocan static gates. The station’s structure is buckled and torn, likely struck by debris from the ravaged planet below. In contrast, the surrounding Talocan gate array remains eerily intact, its ancient geometry still displaying faint signs of residual function.

Thera VII - Expedition Command Outpost Wreck and the lost Matyrhan Lakat-Hro:

Please see 1420: Expedition Office Triptik for additional context and further detail.

Waypoint 4

Thera VIII - Planetary Colonization office Wreck:

A poignant reminder of abandoned hopes, this ruined office once served as the coordination hub for an attempted colonization of Thera VIII. With the planet now shattered and racked by violent quakes, such plans must have been conceived shortly before the system’s recent cataclysm.

Waypoint 5

Thera XII - The Sanctuary Institute of Paleocybernetics:

A restricted Sanctuary research station dedicated to studying ancient, still-active artificial intelligence systems particularly Sleeper drones. Leaked reports from YC116 suggest that its scientists may have achieved the unprecedented feat of capturing and containing live Sleeper units. Most of the facility remains off limits, enforced by strict security that leaves little room for curiosity.

Waypoint 6

Thera XII - The Sanctuary Surveillance Observatory:

An advanced monitoring outpost equipped with omni spectral arrays capable of tracking Sleeper activity across Thera’s vast expanse. It also serves as the central hub for data gathered from gravitational sensors on all Sanctuary stations, enabling rapid trilateration of space time anomalies even those beyond the reach of standard scanner probes.

Waypoint 7

Thera XIII - The Sanctuary Applied Gravitation Laboratory:

A high security research facility focused on advanced graviton physics. Approaching ships must follow traffic control closely, as localized spatial distortions are common near the station. Widely believed to be the birthplace of the Astero and Stratios class cloaking breakthroughs, the lab remains strictly restricted. Capsuleer visitors are confined to designated quarters with no access to any research areas.

Waypoint 8

Thera XIV - The Sanctuary Fullerene Loom:

A specialized processing facility dedicated to refining fullerene rich gases into advanced polymers vital to Sanctuary operations throughout Thera. While capsuleers may access the clearly marked visitor areas, all hybrid reaction lines and industrial sections remain restricted to authorized personnel only.
